Dorchester County COVID-19 Information

Dorchester County is in Phase 3 of Maryland's Vaccination Plan. All adults are eligible. Schedule an appointment for the Moderna vaccine at the Hyatt in Cambridge.

Birth Certificates

Suspended until further notice

Hours (By Appointment Only):

Tuesdays and Thursdays   8:30 am – 11:00 am

Please note:  All appointments are weather permitting as this is a curbside service.

The Dorchester County Health Department can issue official birth certificates with a raised seal for anyone born in the State of Maryland.  Birth certificates can only be issued to the person or the parent named on the certificate. Legal guardians must present original Court documents.

Please call 410-228-3223 to schedule an appointment time within the timeframe given above.  You will need to bring the following items with you:

      A: Valid, unexpired ID (cannot be damaged):

  • State issued drivers’ license
  • State issued identification card (MVA)
  • Current U.S. Passport 
  • Current passport issued by another country (Must have issue date and expiration date)

*Mail with the applicant’s name and current address must accompany the passport and also if the address is not current on State issued drivers’ license/ID.

Please note:  If your driver’s license or ID card is about to expire or has expired since the state emergency started (on or after March 12, 2020), Governor Larry Hogan has ordered an extension​ of all driver’s and business licenses, identification cards, permits (including handicap parking permits) and registrations that expire or are eligible for renewal during the state of emergency. As a result, they will not expire until the 30th day after the state of emergency has been lifted.

     B: Completed Application for Certified Copy of Maryland Birth Record.  Please click here to download, complete, print and bring with you.  If you do not have access to a computer and printer, you will be given the application to complete when you arrive.

     C: Fee is $25.00 per certificate.  Cash (exact change) or credit cards (Master Card, VISA, Discover) are accepted as payment.

Upon arrival for your appointment, please remain in your vehicle and call 410-228-3223 to let our receptionist know that you have arrived.  We will serve you curbside and you will be required to be wearing a face mask during this transaction.

Death Certificates

At this time the Dorchester County Health Department is issuing death certificates to funeral directors only.   Please contact the funeral establishment that handled the arrangements for the deceased or the Maryland Division of Vital Records at 410-764-3038.
